Profile
of Vice Polemarch Anthony Palm
In Kappa Alpha Psi, there is no such title as “Polemarch of the Neos”. But that is the nick name that was earned by Anthony Palm following his initiation into the Gary Alumni Chapter. Palm, who currently serves as the chapter’s Vice Polemarch and Kappa League chairman, was given the aforementioned teaser name because immediately upon becoming a member of the fraternity, he participated in nearly all of the chapter’s functions, joined every committee that his schedule would permit and ultimately became a stand-out among new initiates.
“The process was great,” recalled Palm, in reference to his time spent on the Spring 2007 line, Chosen 4 F.E.W. “We had a good experience coming into the frat, even though we didn’t know what to expect. The intake chairman did a good job.”
But it was years prior that the Gary, IN native aspired to join the noble fraternity. He was influenced by a few high school teachers who were Kappas, but what really piqued his interest was a summer stay at Indiana University—the founding place of the fraternity.
“The summer before my senior year, I went to Bloomington, and that’s when I was really introduced to Kappa,” he said. “I took English and math that summer and stayed on campus. When I saw the Kappas, I realized a lot of their attributes were the same as mine. They had swagger, they were college men, but at the same time, they weren’t geeks; they looked like me.”
Palm, who previously served as the chapter’s Strategus, said his proudest accomplishment thus far in the fraternity is the community service project he executed alongside his line brothers.
“We hosted an in-home safety fair as a community event,” he said. “It showcased the fraternity and showed the community that we’re a frat that cares about what happens locally—not just guys who get together and drink.”
Professionally, Palm is an insurance agent with State Farm, and he previously was an Allstate Insurance Agency Owner. The Indiana Wesleyan University graduate lives in Merrillville, IN, and has been married to his wife, Delia, for 19 years. He has three children: Audria, 22; Ameka, 17 and Anthony, 15.
